BY-LAWS

SECRETARY

It shall be his duty to keep the Constitution and ByLaws and have them available at every meeting. He shall cause all amendments to be noted thereon and permit same to be consulted by any member upon request.

 

MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership in the Tamaqua Wireless Association is open to licensed Amateur Radio operators only. Applicants cannot be disqualified because of race, sex, creed, or color.

2. Membership can be had by submitting a written application form to the secretary who shall read it to the members present and voted upon at any regular business meeting. The vote shall be by secret ballot and require a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote to become a member.

3. Membership in the Tamaqua Wireless Association is retained only through continued activity in the associations functions.

The membership roll of the Tamaqua Wireless Association shall never exceed or become greater than twenty-five (25) members.

Any member entering the U.S. Military on active duty shall be dues free and listed as inactive until they are discharged.

 

MEETINGS

The regular business meeting of the Tamaqua Wireless Association shall be conducted on the 3rd. Friday of each calendar month. The fiscal year for the Association shall begin December 1st and end November 30th of the following year.

 

STANDING COMMITTEES

The president elect at the beginning of his term of office shall appoint the following committees.

 

RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE The RFI committee shall be available in the event any member experiences interference problems

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS It shall be the duty of the PR to keep the membership as well as the general public informed via the media regarding activities of the Association.

 

EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS Every member of the Association shall be an active part of the local EMA Communications system.

 

Article I

 

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in the TAMAQUA WIRELESS ASSOCIATION shall be by written application and require a valid Amateur Radio license issued to the applicant by the Federal Communications Commission.

 

Article II

OFFICERS

The elected officers of the Tamaqua Wireless Association shall be a President, Vice President , Secretary-treasurer, Activities Manager and two (2) Trustees

.

2 Nomination for officers shall take place at the October business meeting, provided there be

quorum. Election of candidates shall be held at the November business session

(a). Officers elect begin their term of office at the December meeting.

The fiscal year for the Tamaqua Wireless Association will be from December 1st. to November 30th.

 

Vacancies in office between elections must be filled by a special election to be held at the

meeting following the vacancy.

 

Article III

DUTIES OF THE OFFICERS

 

PRESIDENT The president shall preside at all meetings and conduct the same According to the rules adopted. Enforce due observance of this Constitution and Bylaws, and perform all other duties pertaining to the office of the president.

VICE PRESIDENT shall assume the duties in the absence of the president

SECCRETARY – TREASURER shall keep a record of proceedings at all meetings. Keep the membership records current, read all correspondence and reply where required. He shall receive and record the annual dues. Pay no bills without proper authorization. He is authorized to maintain a petty cash account up to ten dollars ( $10.00) for minor expenses incurred between Association meetings. At the end of each fiscal year shall submit an itemized statement of all receipts and disbursements.

ACTIVITIES MANAGER shall recommend and plan activities to Further advance the interest and efficiency of the members. Include selected Activities so as to keep the reputation foremost before the public and the community. He/she may at the discretion of the president, appoint assistants to aid in specific activities

 

TRUSTEE Nr. 1 Shall be entrusted with the Association’s Amateur Station Call , W3CMA, and shall file a renewal application at the proper time so as to keep it current

TRUSTEE Nr. 2 Shall maintain a written record of all the Association’s property not otherwise provided for. All Association property on loan to members shall be recorded and accounted for.

MEETINGS

 

The bylaws shall have provisions for regular and special meetings. A minimum of

Seven (7) members shall constitute a quorum for business transactions.

 

Committee meetings may be held any time and any location at the discretion of the committee members.

 

Article V

DUES

1 Operating expenses for the Association shall be acquired by a member donation of ten dollars ( $ 10.00 ) per year payable during the month of December and January.

New members accepted after May 31 will be prorated and pay five dollars ( $ 5.00 ) and

placed on the regular annual dues ( $10.00 ) paying list during the month of December

A family membership is available where there is more than one licensed Amateur per

household. A token fee of two dollars ($ 2.00 ) is paid for each additional Amateur

license holder and will run concurrent with the sponsor member. They shall have the

right to vote and hold office.

A member attending public or private school up to age 18 or continue with a college education up to age 22 shall come under the category of "Student" and pay an Annual token fee of one/half the Regular membership dues. Upon graduation (High School or College) they shall attain the category of a regular member. They shall have the right to vote and hold office.

Article VI

AMMENDMENTS

 

This Constitution and Bylaws may be amended by two-thirds vote of the total membership. Proposals for amendment shall be submitted in writing only at a regular business meeting.

After proposals having been read off, corrections made, they shall be voted on for acceptance at the following regular business meeting. All corrections, additions and /or deletions must be made at during the first reading. Corrections cannot be made during the second reading.

Each member shall be sent a copy of the intended amendment and notified by mail specifying date(s), time and meeting place regarding the intent to make any amendment.

Article VII

RULES

Robert’s Rules of order shall govern meeting proceedings at all times

ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION

 

Constitution of the

 

TAMAQUA WIRELESS ASSOCIATION

 

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

 

The name of this Amateur Radio organization shall be known as the Tamaqua Wireless Association and shall be operational on all Amateur Radio frequencies in the HF/UHF/VHF spectrum and be available for instruction to its members on proper procedures and techniques.

 

It shall hold regular meetings for the purpose of business transactions, activities planning, and socializing between its members and other clubs and/or repeater groups.

 

Membership in the Tamaqua Wireless Association shall be open to any F.C.C. licensed Amateur Radio operator and be affiliated with Association’s activities. TWA shall have three categories of membership: Regular, Family, and Student.

 

A Club News Bulletin will be printed from time to time and distributed to its membership. Members are encouraged to submit items for publication.

 

At the discretion of the members, the Tamaqua Wireless Association will assist in

supplying Emergency and Public Service Communications to local and surrounding areas.

PREAMBLE :

 

Amateur Radio Operators in the Tamaqua, Pa. Area wishing to secure the pleasures and benefits of association of persons commonly interested in AMATEUR RADIO, hereby constitute ourselves the TAMAQUA WIRELESS ASSOCIATION and enact this Constitution as our governing law. Its purpose shall be to promote and exchange information and cooperation between members and to further the advancement, general interest, and welfare of Amateur Radio.
